See, Understand, Contribute: Augmented Reality as a Shared Language for Participation
About the Project
Despite carefully planned citizen participation processes, often only a small part of the population is reached. Young people and people with language barriers in particular are left out - yet their perspectives are especially valuable for sustainable urban development.
In the BMBF-funded research project ARPAS (AR-supported participation in urban development testing), we are developing a solution to this widespread problem. Through the innovative combination of augmented reality and “instant participation” (participation without registration), we are enabling a completely new form of citizen participation that meets people where they are. Together with the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW), we are researching and testing the innovative uses of augmented reality in digital public participation.
