Launch Digital Participation.
No shareholders, no strings attached.
adhocracy+ is developed and operated by Liquid Democracy e. V., a Berlin-based non-profit association. That's not a detail. It's the reason the platform exists the way it does.
Digital participation needs reliable and independent structures
Digital participation can come with significant costs that many municipalities and organisations cannot easily cover. Licenses, maintenance, and ongoing development create financial barriers, especially for smaller communities. Many solutions are part of commercial structures, where priorities, pricing, or availability can change over time, creating a quiet but serious risk: dependency on a product that may shift focus, increase costs, or be discontinued. Civic infrastructure and public debates doesn't need to be shaped by commercial logic. Democratic participation deserves a platform that is fully accountable to the public.
How adhocracy+ makes participation truly non-profit
-
A non-profit with a clear mission
Liquid Democracy e.V. was founded with a single purpose: making democratic participation more accessible. There are no investors to satisfy and no revenue targets to hit. Every decision about the platform is made with one question in mind: Does this serve the people?
-
Open source code, publicly available
The entire codebase is publicly accessible on GitHub. Any developer, municipality, or independent auditor can inspect it, adapt it, or build on it.
-
Funded by donations and public support
adhocracy+ is financed through donations and project funding. That funding model keeps the platform free for everyone and ensures that financial pressure never compromises the product's integrity.
-
A community, not a customer base
With over 420 organisations using the platform, development priorities are shaped by real needs from municipalities, NGOs, and other organisations.
What convinces me about adhocracy+ are the versatile software features and the support I receive when setting up participation projects. I particularly appreciate the lively exchange on the platform: everyone can share ideas and collaborate on proposals. I can recommend adhocracy+ to anyone looking to run diverse participation initiatives. [Translated from German]Jennifer Nagel, Building Regulations Information, Municipality of Panketal
